What an amazing day spent with leading kidney cancer researchers, patients and caregivers to learn about the latest breakthroughs, clinical trials, risk factors, diet in treatment, etc. Kathy Liu, founder of Joey’s Wings, spoke at the very first Kidney Cancer Patient Summit at UCSD with the journey of finding a cure for translocation renal cell carcinoma, the most common RCC impacting children and adolescents.

A big thank you to Dr. McKay from UCSD Health for setting up this summit and Dr. Pal from City of Hope for talking about the importance of clinical trials in rare kidney cancer. It’s inspiring to learn from Bryan Lewis KidneyCAN about their lobbying efforts to secure federal funding for kidney cancer research. How encouraging to hear Mayor Sylvia Marroquin share her experience of beating kidney cancer!

It’s truly a blessing to have passionate and devoted kidney cancer researchers in the area, working tirelessly to improve patient outcomes! Strings For Wings, the youth musicians from Joey’s Wings had a fantastic time welcoming guests!
