Joey’s Wings works with Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches (A3M) looking for bone marrow match for 7 year old Lillian who is now in treatment for a relapse of Acute myeloid leukemia. In March, we did two bone marrow drives in the Bayarea and Irvine, collecting 120 kits! In this country, the odds of finding a match for white is 77%, for Asian 41% and African American 23%. Pandemic definitely makes drives challenged. But we will continue to recruit donors and grow the registry, because many, like Lillian, need a life-saving bone marrow transplant.
