Bec was diagnosed with melanotic XP11.2 translocation renal cancer in 2011 when she was 21 and died on 5 December this year. Bec was a beautiful, incredibly kind and compassionate young woman who loved and was deeply loved by many. Rare cancers get very little research funding and so the most effective treatments are unknown and often inaccessible due to the lack of research. In lieu of flowers Bec wanted us to support the Joey’s Wings Foundation in the hope that their wonderful work would one day lead to a cure.
