Medal For Kids is inspired by Joey who loved to run and compete.

We stuff gift bags for kids on the oncology floor at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. Each bag contains a card of Joey’s art or a card made by volunteers, an origami crane, a racing medal from local runner and a Lego box. This is Medal for Kids Project.

On the card we write:

“The medal you are holding was won by a runner. Maybe they trained, maybe they signed up on the date of the race. One thing is certain, they finished the race. During the race, they encountered obstacles, much like you have. They became tired, sore and thought about quitting. But they kept going. They didn’t give up. And this runner wants to encourage you in your fight to not give up. Keep fighting, keep hoping and keep believing in miracles! You are loved!”
